Flexible plant swapping: LECHUZA liners for versatile design possibilities
Over time, new furniture, colors, and materials bring change to your garden or home. Often, plants need to be adapted to match these new interior styles.
Fortunately, most LECHUZA planters feature a removable liner, making redesigning effortless and allowing you to pot your plants wherever you please. On top of that, many liners are compatible with multiple planter models, making them a truly versatile all-rounder.
Closed and open liners
Depending on the type of planter, a distinction is made between open and closed liners.
For planters with an open liner, the water reservoir is located in the outer container, with the liner itself acting as the separator. This allows the liner to be removed easily so the plant can be cleaned and dusted under running water. An additional advantage: the roots grow out through the bottom of the liner and can be easily trimmed if necessary.
With a closed liner, the water reservoir is integrated directly into the liner itself and cannot be removed separately like with the open version. This type of liner is often used in pedestal or column planters to provide the optimal planting depth. This allows the plant to be potted, pre-cultivated, or transported over long distances entirely within the liner—all without any mess or soil spills, even when moving house!
All black liners are made from 100% recycled plastic and are fully recyclable.
Effortless use
Carrying handles and handle frames make removing the liner a breeze. Depending on the model, the liner is equipped with either carrying handles or a handle frame. These handles make it easy to lift out the inserts for convenient planting or for moving the containers to a new location.
The patented LS handle frames, found in models such as the QUADRO LS or CLASSICO LS, are not only practical but also a true visual highlight. These frames are often finished in a color that matches the planter, allowing them to blend perfectly into the overall design.
Extremely versatile
Cleverly combined, swapped, and exchanged thanks to a versatile fit.
Regardless of the planter’s colour or surface finish, liners within the same product family (such as BALCONERA, CANTO, or CUBICO) and of the same size can be easily interchanged. For example, the liner from a CANTO Premium 30 can be swapped with a CANTO Stone 30.
Many liners can even be exchanged across different product lines: a CUBICO Color 40 is compatible with a TRIO Cottage 40 or a PALO Natural Wood 45 low/high. For more details, please refer to our overview.

Our liners make it easy to exchange your plants, making them ideal for seasonal displays. Cleaning the outer planter is also particularly convenient as a result. Especially practical for autumn and winter: you can bring your balcony, terrace, and garden plants indoors to overwinter separately in their liners and simply move them back outside in the spring.
Plants can also be conveniently pre-cultivated indoors and placed in their matching outdoor planters later on. A liner is already included with every planter, but they can also be purchased individually as replacements or extras.
